Market Forerunners and FLOW Associates
FLOW identified transport planning consultancies that are leading the way in providing innovative planning and modelling services directly to local authorities for walking and cycling measures. The 12 Market Forerunners and 21 FLOW Associates form a network of companies that are further developing this market through participation in workshops and online trainings.
Market Forerunners
12 experts or transport planning consultancies specialised in various aspects of cycling, walking and/or transport modelling applied for, and were selected as, FLOW Market Forerunners. These were invited to workshops in Gdynia, Poland, at the PTV Group headquarters in Karlsruhe, Germany and at the FLOW final conference in Brussels.
In Gdynia in September 2016, participants learnt about:
- the FLOW methodology and Impact Assessment Tools
- improvements to microscopic and macroscopic transport modelling to better incorporate walking and cycling
- the FLOW Partner and Follower cities and their needs and expectations with regard to walking, cycling and transport modelling
At PTV headquarters in Karlsruhe in April 2017, the Market Forerunners received hands-on training on the FLOW Impact Assessment Tool and improved microscopic and macroscopic modelling software.
