Partner in the spotlight: The Wuppertal Institute

The Wuppertal Institute leads FLOW's Work Package 1, in which a multimodal methodology was developed that evaluates the impacts of cycling and walking measures on transport network performance and congestion.

The methodology was designed to enable road authorities to consider walking and cycling measures as potential remedies for congestion. In the current project stage, Wuppertal Institute supports its partners in Sofia to evaluate their cycling campaign. This contains the application of the FLOW impact assessment tool and a general analysis of the campaign's success.

The Wuppertal Institute undertakes research and develops models, strategies and instruments for transitions to sustainable development at local, national and international levels. Sustainability research at the Wuppertal Institute focuses on resources, climate and energy related challenges and their relation to economy and society. The Mobility & International Cooperation Unit of the Wuppertal Institute develops implementation-ready concepts, bringing together local demand, technical expertise and policy advice with financing institutions. It is embedded in European and international partnerships such as the CiViTAS initiative, the Urban Electric Mobility Initiative and the urban mobility SOLUTIONS network. The international mobility team currently works on 14 projects in cooperation with over 110 partners in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America on sustainable, resilient and inclusive transport solutions.
